Nathan Nabb Invited to Play the Concert la Fontaine Series at Selmer Paris Performance Hall![]() Conn-Selmer artist Nathan Nabb performed on the Concert à la Fontaine series on March 19th, 2009. This is the concert series located at the Performance Hall within the Selmer facilities in Paris, France. The program consisted of 20th century composers such as Berio, Stockhausen, and Gabriele. Dr. Nathan Nabb serves as Assistant Professor of Saxophone at Morehead State University in Morehead, KY. He received his Doctor of Music (2008) and Master of Music (2003) degrees in saxophone performance from Northwestern University, where he studied with Dr. Frederick Hemke. He received his Bachelor of Music degree (2002) in saxophone performance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he studied with Professor Debra Richtmeyer. As a performer, Nathan's interests predominantly lie in the performance and promotion of contemporary music for saxophone. His forthcoming solo recording Tangled Loops (to be released in early 2009) features the works of Babbitt, Berio, Eckardt and Hurel and will be released on the new music label Amp Recordings. Dr. Winston Choi, Chair of the Piano Department at Roosevelt University, is the collaborative pianist featured on the Babbitt and Eckardt. The Northshore Trio (Nathan Nabb and Masahito Sugihara-saxophones and Winston Choi-piano) will be recording new works by Japanese composer Mari Takano for the BIS label in 2010. Dr. Nabb regularly performs with the St. Louis Symphony, New World Symphony and IRIS Chamber Orchestra where has worked with renowned conductors Michael Tilson-Thomas, David Robertson, Marin Alsop, Michael Stern and Keith Lockhart. In the summer of 2004, Nathan performed in the second major staging of John Adams' Nixon in China with St. Louis Symphony and Opera Theater St. Louis. The Concert à la Fontaine series is considered one of the most prestigious series in Paris and offers monthly opportunities to see only the most accomplished saxophonists, clarinetists, and trumpeters in the Henri Selmer Paris family of artists.
