Wayne Jackson is awarded the first annual Conn-Selmer Artist Centerstage Lifetime Achievement Award
Conn-Selmer is proud to announce the first recipient of the Artist Centerstage Lifetime Achievement Award, Wayne Jackson. Wayne received this honor during a presentation ceremony at the 2012 Conn-Selmer Institute on June 11th, via simulcast to the over 400 attendees. The Institute was held in Mishawaka, Indiana at the Bethel College.
Wayne Jackson is a member of the Memphis Horns, a Grammy winning horn section that has recorded sessions with such greats as Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, Neil Young, U2, Bonnie Raitt, Sting, and many more. Wayne has made his trumpet of choice the Bach Stradivarius.
Along with the award, Wayne was presented a custom built Stradivarius trumpet. The instrument included gold trim and abalone finger buttons along with a custom hand engraved Memphis Horns insignia. The trumpet was presented to Wayne in the simulcast by local Memphis dealer Amro Music.
“I hope you have as much fun with your horn as I have had with mine,” were the words of advice Wayne gave to the attendees at the Conn-Selmer Institute. In a heartfelt acceptance, Wayne told the group about being inspired by his high school band director and how they will assuredly inspire others the same way.
This Conn-Selmer Artist Centerstage Lifetime Achievement Award is the first in what will become an annual presentation. For more on Conn-Selmer, Wayne Jackson, and the entire family of endorsing artists and clinicians, visit ww.conn-selmer.com. To view a video clip of the acceptance, click here.
