Dr. Eric Murine is the Music Director for the RocKats at the
University of Kentucky--one of the first university-sponsored rock/pop
bands in the nation--and the lead trumpet player for the Trendells.
Since 2009, Eric has been a top-call artist for Event Productions,
which has produced celebrated touring shows for artists like James
Brown, the Commodores, the Four Tops, Gladys Knight, and Ray Charles.
He holds degrees from Western Michigan University, Michigan State
University, and the University of Kentucky.
Over the past decade Eric has performed professionally in various group settings such as the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw Bay Symphony, Alma Symphony, Victory Brass Quintet, The Trendells, G-Funk All-Stars, Soul Explosion, Positive Movement Band, Mercy Men, and many more.
Eric served as Interim Instructor of Trumpet at the University of
Kentucky in 2009, and now teaches at colleges and schools throughout
the greater Lexington area. A respected educator, Eric wrote his
Doctor of Musical Arts dissertation on how to help trumpet players
move from the classical world into jazz and rock styles. His academic
findings are now being edited into a reader-friendly book entitled "A
Progressive Guide to Commercial Trumpet Playing." The book helps guide
trumpet players through the understanding and application of
techniques needed to perform well in commercial venues where diverse
styles from jazz, blues, pop, funk, and similar non-traditional idioms
